Click Here to Get The Osiris MethodThe Engine of Destruction Starcraft 2 mission can seem tough at first, you can make it a lot easier by following the strategies contained within this article.

Basically the only thing you have to do to beat this mission is follow the Odin around and repair it while it does all the hard work.

You can use both SCVs and Science Vessels to repair the Odin. SCVs work very quickly and repair the Odin very rapidly, so they are absolutely necessary.

However, Science Vessels are great too because they repair SCVs, each other, and the Odin, making them much more survivable.

Other than that, you will want to make a few Wraiths to take out any air units that might get in your way. The Odin's damage versus ground units is huge and the splash damage is massive, allowing it to take out any infantry with ease.

Step by Step Engine of Destruction Brutal Walkthrough

For simplicity, I am going to break this part down on a step-by-step basis. This way, you know exactly what you need to do for each "wave" in order to be prepared.

Entrance: During the initial phase, Tychus and a group of Medics and Marines will grab the Odin. You should not lose any Marines during this attack. Let Tychus go in first and take the brunt of the damage and use the Medic to heal him.

Your units can out-range the auto-turrets, to back up when those pop up as otherwise you will lose all your units.

Battlecruisers: After arriving at your base, you only have a minute or two to prepare before Tychus storms off in the Odin. Cloak the Wraiths you get and use them to take out the Battlecruisers. Repair the Odin.

At your main base, place your Marines in the Bunker you get and train large numbers of SCVs. Throw down a Tech Lab or Tech Reactor and train 2 Science Vessels (if you have the technology).

Next, throw down a Reactor or Tech Reactor on your Barracks and train Medics. Medics repair SCVs very quickly, and your SCVs will be taking fire from the computer, so this is absolutely necessary.

Base 1: While you are building Science Vessels and Medics, Tychus will attack the first base. Send in your Cloaked Wraiths with him and use them to focus down the Medivacs. Tychus will clean up the base on his own. Send in 1 SCV to repair him after he takes down the first initial bulk of units.

You then get a break. Repair the Odin and start training Wraiths and continue to train Medics and SCVs.

Base 2: The assault on the second base is tough. You will want to bring up about 8 SCVs or so to repair, and only send them in teams of two. This is because the computer will focus fire down your SCVs if you are not careful.

The biggest danger is the Raven. It will use Seeker Missiles on your SCVs, which can blow them all up in one swoop. It hangs far back too so it is hard to pick off with your Wraiths.

Once the Raven is dead, send your SCVs in two at a time. Use your Wraiths to pick off any units which are trying to attack your SCVs. You will continuously have to stream in SCVs to keep the Odin alive.

Science Vessels go a long way here as they can continuously heal the Odin and are not easily killed themselves. Four Vessels is the ideal number for the second attack.

Base 3: At first glance, the third base seems practically impossible. The key here is that there is no detection around the entrance to the third base. In other words, as soon as you finish killing the second base, send your Wraiths in to kill units in the third base.

The third base itself is loaded with "SCV sniping" units such as the Vulture and Reaper, both of which are fast and do a lot of damage to light units. However, you can make this a non-issue by killing them off before the Odin even gets in range!

Kill the Siege Tank as well with your Wraiths and then start picking off Reapers and Vultures. This will significantly reduce the damage the Odin takes and make it a lot safer for your SCVs, making the third base a breeze.

If you do not attack ahead of time with your Wraiths, you will be in a lot of trouble. Continue to train Wraiths as you will need them in the next section as well.

Important: Before heading into base #4, build a few Missile Turrets at the western entrance to your base. You will get hit by an Aerial attack, so you will want some turrets to defend yourself. Position a few Marauders there to deal with the Vikings once they land.

Base 4: Just like with Base #3, you will want to go in with your Wraiths ahead of time and pick off the two Siege Tanks and all the Banshees floating around. There is only 1 Missile Turret here that can detect you, and it is deep in the base.

You should be able to kill off most of the offensive units here without much trouble before the Odin even gets there.

Base 5

Unlike the previous bases, Base #5 is loaded with detection, so you cannot simply just blow it up with your Wraiths. As soon as you finish base 4, save your game, because you may need to try this a few times.

After the assault on your base is finished, pull off most of your SCVs and bring them to the Odin. Unload all of your Bunkers as well - no more need for defense as the mission is almost over.

Next, just before the Odin wants to attack, shoot the first Bunker with your Marines, then run back to the Odin. A Raven, a few Marines, and a Battlecruiser will give chase. You can then kill these units outside of the base with your Wraiths and Marines - keep alternating between attacking and running and they will eventually reach the Odin, at which point you can take them out easily.

Killing a Raven and Battlecruiser before even getting into the base makes this mission a lot more manageable. Repair the Odin before it runs off.

When the Odin finally does go in, let your Wraiths and Marines hang back. Do not send your Wraiths in ahead of the Odin. Once the Siege Tank dies, you can send in your Marines. Use your Wraiths only to kill off Vikings (priority #1), Ravens (priority #2), Banshees (priority #3), and Battlecruisers (priority #4).

It is very important to not let your Wraiths get hit with any Seeker Missiles. Also, do not allow your Wraiths to attack Marines, as Marines are very strong against Wraiths. Additionally, focus down Vikings first, because Vikings will quickly kill off your Wraiths if you are not careful.

About twice during this battle, you will need to send in ALL of your SCVs to repair the Odin. Go in when it is at about 1500 health and immediately pull them out of the fight (and out of the base) after repairing. If they are simply standing around after finishing repairing they will be killed off quickly.

This final battle may take a few tries to complete. Just make sure you have enough wraiths (about 12-14 is enough) and you protect them from Marines and Vikings.

Engine of Destruction Brutal Conclusion

While this mission is one of the toughest Starcraft 2 missions in game to beat on Brutal mode, good control of the Wraith makes it a lot easier. Save after each base so you can reload the game and try again if you fail.
